United Way Guaranteed Income Program 23-24

Thank you for your interest in United Way California Capital Region Guaranteed Income Program.

BEFORE YOU APPLY, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.

    OVERVIEW

If your application is selected and we confirm your eligibility, you will receive $500 each month for 12 months with the first payment starting July 1, 2023. This funding is unconditional, guaranteed, and without spending restrictions. 80 participants will be selected for this opportunity. Please note that we anticipate having far more applicants than available openings. Eligible participants will be selected by lottery.

    SURVEY

We are working with California State University Sacramento to administer surveys in which we will evaluate the benefits the program provides for participants. The same survey will be administered three times.
The first survey is part of this application process. Once you have completed this application, a link will be given where you can complete the survey right away. You will also receive an email confirming that this part of the application has been received with a link included. Please click on that link and complete the survey as that will complete your application to the program. It should take you 20-30 minutes.
In 12 months, you will receive a second survey and those who were selected to receive funds will receive a third and final survey 6 months later. While not mandatory, your completion of these additional surveys is greatly appreciated. A $25 gift card will be sent for completing survey two and again for completing survey three. Your input through these surveys will provide invaluable feedback to help us better understand the impact of the program and could be important to future expansion of guaranteed income.

To determine if you live within City of Sacramento limits, click here and enter your full address (Street name and number, Sacramento, CA, zip code) and hit enter. If you live in the City, it will indicate what City Council member represents you. You qualify for the program. If it indicates that your address is "NOT IN CITY LIMITS", then you do not qualify for this program.
If you are selected, please be prepared to share documentation to prove residency, such as a utility bill with your name and address.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR APPLICANTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY RECEIVING PUBLIC BENEFITS

These funds, if you are selected, may change your total household income threshold and your eligibility for other benefits.
United Way is working with the relevant public agencies to reduce if not eliminate this impact through pursuing an exemption or waivers for recipients of the guaranteed income project. However, it is every applicants’ responsibility to take this into consideration and make the best decision for their family if selected for the program. It is highly recommended that each individual household additionally check and confirm with their Case Worker at the agency administering their current benefits (for example, Department of Human Assistance for those on CalWorks of receiving SNAP) to address their individual situation.

Your eligibility will NOT be affected by simply applying. If you apply and are selected, a UW staff member will do a one-on-one meeting with you to discuss the possible impact that participating in the Guaranteed Income
Program may have on the current public benefits you receive. If it looks like you will be negatively impacted, UW will encourage you to withdraw your application to keep your current benefits.

LASTLY, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETE AND SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION. YOU WILL RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL INDICATING YOU HAVE SUCCESFULLY SUBMITTED YOUR APPLICATION.
